Check the UKVI website for the correct visa application for your circumstances. www.gov.uk/apply-uk-visa
The application is made in Rabat through Teleperformance Ltd. The address is UK Visa Application Centre (VAC), 9 Rue Al Koufa, Avenue Mouley Youseef, Rabat, Morocco. This is a short walk from the Rabatville train station in Rabat.
You will need to take your baby to obtain a TB certificate. A list of clinics, that are approved to do this, is listed on the UKVI website. When we applied, both clinics were based in Rabat. The clinic I used was a short walk from the Visa Application office.
All children must see a clinician who’ll decide if they need a chest x-ray. Children under 11 will not normally have a chest x-ray. You will need to complete a health questionnaire. If the clinician decides your child doesn’t have TB they’ll give you a certificate. Include this certificate with your child’s UK visa application.
We booked the TB clinic appointment early. They handed us the certificate shortly after the appointment. We made photocopies and headed to the visa office before lunch. I booked the ‘Premium lounge’ service, which is nice but not essential. This service gets you an appointment time with no waiting in queues and a few other perks.
A fast track service is available which will deliver a visa decision in 15 days. This is worth doing as the settlement visa, without the fast track, aims for a decision in around 3 months. Bear in mind that your Moroccan visa is valid only for three months from the time of entering Morocco. To renew the visa, you will need to leave the country and re-enter, which is difficult whilst caring for your baby who is unable to leave Morocco whilst his passport is gone for his UK visa application.
You will need to pay for an additional health surcharge with the visa application. The visa application system will prompt you with the correct figure to pay based on the type of visa you applied for. If you make an overpayment, UKVI will provide a refund sometime after.
See costs for prices of visa application.
Please Note: Only the sponsor (one parent) and baby will be allowed to enter the visa office. Also, all visa costs must either be paid online prior to arrival or must be paid in cash at the visa application office. They cannot accept card payments at the office.
You will be able to see the progress of your visa application online. Once ready, you will need to return to collect the visa with the checklist of the documents you submitted for the visa application.
You can return home with baby. Remember to carry all your court documents in your hand luggage. At check in, we were asked why we are escorting a Moroccan baby out of the country and the court documents were checked. It wasn’t a long delay but I guess it could have been had we not had the all documents to hand.
